I can coach you through any change process and help you develop the tools to make change work.
While I specialise in helping with stubborn habits and stress-related fatigue, depression and anxiety, I have extensive experience across the board. Let's have a chat!

Goal Setting

I spend time listening to your story so that we can set in motion a game plan to achieve your exercise goals. Together, we will unpack not only what your goals are, we will also unpack the internal barriers to you achieving them. My goal achieveing methods are different to other exercise physiologists because I don't just look at S.M.A.R.T. goals, I look at your values also.

Gradual Progression

If you're willing to put the required effort into achieving your goals, you've come to the right place. That deosn't mean you have work out in the gym every day of the week, though! I believe in empowering you to achieve change that's sustainable in the long term. I want to help you invest in your long term health and be willing to put in the effort. So the change you achieve with me will be gradual, progressive and safe. Oh, and long lasting.

Pacing

One of the most important parts of a good exercise plan is pacing. I spend a good deal of time discussing this with you. Long term exercise health will only be achieved by focusing on what you do when you're not exercising as much as what you do when you are. I won't just give you an exercise plan. If you come to see me, then you understand that we'll explore pacing issues as much as exercise ones.

Key to Everything

Change Fitness is the key to sustaining every kind of change. In the same way that you need to be fit to safely complete a marathon or compete in an Olympic event, you also need to be fit for change. The reseaech shows there are sixteen areas you need to be strong in in order to begin and maintain any change. By enrolling in the Personal Change Fitness Program, you have the opportuity to participate in 30-50 hours of online learning, personalised coaching with myself and to see your Change Fitness grow. This is one of the best investments you can make in your self and wellbeing.

Assess Your Values

Our values are tied in so closely to our behaviour. If we want to change our behaviour, then we would do well to understand our values. My coaching services are firmly embedded in a values-based approach, including a highly reliable and accurate assessment tool to help you understand wat you value the most now, in this moment and to give you a benchmark for how to forge your values in the future.

Tell Your Story

In order to change your story, you need to know what that story is to begin with. In our coaching sessions, I will spend a lot of time listening to your story and helping you to understand it better, to unpack it more and and to see the rhythms and patterns in your story. Together, we will make an effort to understand how your story fits with your values and how to reach your goals by adjusting your story.

There are so many tools at your disposal, that it's common for clients to not even realise that they often bring their solutions with them. Together we can unpack some of the solutions you bring with you and explore through the medium of deep reflection, meditation or hypnotic focus, how you might be able to create the change using the resources already at your disposal.

You can change yourself. I'd like to help you with that. Whether it's in personal development and leadership, exercise and fitness goals, physical rehabilitation or managing fatigue and mood issues, I have tools to equip you to change yourself and to handle any kind of change that might come your way. I am especially adept at helping people manage stress-related fatigue, depression and anxiety.

I approach your coaching goals using a storytelling, or narrative, approach. Your body tells a story, you tell a story, and as we speak I get to hear your story. Together, we can help you decide on what story you'd like to tell and make a plan to help you tell that story. Whether it's through exercise or coaching certain behaviours, my unique approach is to understand your body through the stories it tells and to help you to tell new and exciting stories.

Coaching the body. I am heavily trained in a biopsychosocial approach. This means that I believe deeply that there is no separation between your body, mind, emotions and relational self. So when you see me for coaching, I will always have in mind helping you to be healthy in all of these areans. You can expect to have some good conversations about exercise, pacing, mindfulness, relationships and social connection, because if I am coaching one part of you then I am coaching the whole of you, within my professional scope of practise.

Storytelling

Tell me your story, beginning with the 90 minute assessment. We will revisit your story each time we meet, exploring how it's changed since we last met, in order to help you tell the one you want. Together we unpack what's important to you and I get a sense of the overall story of your body and the story you want your body to tell. We discuss options for making that change reality.

Storywriting

Based on your storytelling and the goals we identified, I may write you a home-based exercise program or help you to modify your current exercise program. Either way, we start the process of planning and helping you to tell a different story. This process can take a while and I'm never in a hurry. I want you to achieve long term success with your goals, not quick fix, temporary solutions.

Enjoying the Story

Together we progress your story. Over time, you begin telling the new story and enjoying the changes in your body. Maybe you're fitter or faster or just feeling better about yourself. Maybe you have more energy and less fatigue. Whatever it is, you get to enjoy the benefits! You'll have new story of change to tell and others will see the changes in you as well.

Not just exercise! Exercise physiology is about manipulating the body's natural physiological processes through exercise and recovery. Exercise only brings out the best when it is part of a deliberate, high quality plan that includes pacing and recovery and relaxation. So when you come to see me, please understand that I will focus on your pacing and relaxation at least as much as I focus on your exercise ... and maybe even more! People often find it difficult to focus so much on these things and yet the body craves for a dynamic balance. Our busy lives often mean that we have way too much stuff to do and not enough time spent nourishing our soul. So when you come to see me, please understand that we will spend a lot of time learning to nourish the body and soul as much as learning to do exercise.

Assessment & Storytelling

Fill out a highly valid scientific questionnaire about your values and tell me your story. Find a place where your story is heard and you are valued in it all. Discover for yourself some of the recurrent themes and set some goals to make a difference in one or more areas of your life.

Coaching

Sit down and chat some more. Explore the issues. Discover the solutions together. Session by session you will discover that you need the coaching less as you become aware of your own ability to forge effective solutions and re-write your own story.

Reflect

Go away from each session with something to refeclt upon. Reflect upon it. Do the homework. See yourself changed. Come back when you want to ... to cover the same ground or to cover different ground. Watch your story change in ways that thrill you to the core. Live a values-driven life!

Change Fitness

Learn about and begin growing in Change Fitness by participating in the online Personal Change Fitness Program (PCFP). Begin handling change with ever increasing confidence and success.

IRVEY Assessment

Take the online survey, IRVEY. This is an independently, scienifically validated survey that is designed to determine your Change Fitness. At this stage, you won't be shown the specifics of your IRVEY assessment, but it will help me to understand where you're at and any barriers to change that might pop up along the way. We will have a coaching sessions after you've compleyed IRVEY when we'll discuss how the results might indicate areas where you may have success and challenge.

Personal Change Fitness Program (PCFP)

Once you have completed IRVEY, you continue on to 12 weeks of learning and reflecting on your own Change Fitness. This includes online presentations and deep reflective questions, as well as several hours of individual coaching sessions with me (they can be done via video!). This is where you beging to make the changes in yourself and to grow in ways that will be noticeable not just to yourself but also to those close to you.

IRVEY Reassessment

Once you've finished the PCFP, you get to do IRVEY again, to see how you've progressed with your Change Fitness. From there, you can decide whether to contiue with coaching for other reasons or to move on to new horizons elsewhere. You'll now have the tools to create change in many different areas of life. And of course, when you wish to come back for more coaching on whatever issue is at hand, I'm always there and willing to help out.

This is an online course with video coaching calls. Change Fitness can be improved. This course is designed to improve your Change Fitness. In this regard, you will cover the same teaching content as anyone else who does the course. However, its power lies in the reflective questions you do after the teaching content, and further to that, in the coaching calls we have where we discuss the things you find most meaningful from the coruse. This course does improve people's Change Fitness. the question is, how much will you put into the reflective efforts? The more you enagge with the content, the more you can get out of it. I think you're worth the investment in time and effort, as well as money, and I'm sure you do, too!

Coaching & recovery. These coaching services are embedded in mindfulness, solutions based therapy, positive psychology and social cognitive learning theory. I focus a lot on self-pacing and getting the body into a space where it can best create change for itself. Sometimes I use guided meditation, visual meditation, movement meditation, exercise, and always with a view to pacing yourself well with all goals and activities. Chances are that my services are unlike other services you've experienced, and tat uniqueness  is part of what makes them so powerful. At the end of the day, though, it is the quality of effort that you put into the coaching that matters the most. It's your journey, your story, and I'm just here to help you live it well.
